Driscoll on the difference between Emerging and Emergent church.

Pastor Baker,
Excellent expose’. Emergent/Emerging — no basic difference.
Mark Driscoll is one of the several original promoters of both (the same) philosophies — along with Brian McLaren, Dan Kimball, Rick Warren, Doug Pagitt, Tony Jones and others.
A lot has changed — going even further downhill since that 2006 video.
In Christ eternally,

Jack,
That is ignorant. Driscoll has said many times that he is not associated with those you mention any longer…for theological reasons. Now unless you deny the role of grace and the spirits ability to lead us toward Godly change I would suggest that we believe him, as his theological teaching is consistant with his assertion.
Secondly: Kimball is solidly evangelical though far closer to some of these men than I would like.
Thirdly: Dude come on the Warren comment smacks of stupidity and you may not like his wacky tactics but he is in no way emergent, in fact most of the emergents would probably admit it his kind of thinking that they are emerging from.
I can only make one of two conclusions: 1 You are not very intelligent and are unable to make complex judgments to evaluate data and see where people are actually coming from and what they are saying or 2. you are intentionally being un-truthful in your communication…which is it?
